Playstyle & Rotation

Instead of following a set pattern or rotation, Brewmaster is primarily a priority list, utilizing certain abilities over others based on the moment. We will go over the general priority list for both single target and AoE, along with how to properly utilize your defensives to live challenging encounters.

Single Target Damage Rotation

Brewmaster's single target is very straight forward. Your main goal is to keep your buffs up as much as possible, while making sure that you use your hard hitting abilities on cooldown. Regarding our Blackout Combo, it is most important to use it on Tiger Palm, as it does a lot of damage on single target. If you are at extremely high levels of stagger, it can be worth spending Blackout Combo on Breath of Fire, but this is very rare.

  1. Maintain Rushing Jade Wind (if talented)
  2. Maintain Charred Passions (if talented)
  3. Maintain Bonedust Brew as much as possible
  4. Exploding Keg if Bonedust Brew is on the target
  5. Breath of Fire before using Keg Smash (if talented into Dragonfire Brew)
  6. Keg Smash if you are at 2 charges
  7. Rising Sun Kick
  8. Blackout Kick
  9. Tiger Palm if buffed by Blackout Combo
  10. Keg Smash
  11. Tiger Palm
  12. Chi Wave / Chi Burst

AoE Damage Rotation

Brewmaster's AoE is very similar to its single target. Unlike the single target rotation, however, where you want to spend every Blackout Combo on Tiger Palm, you can weave it between Keg Smash for brew cooldown reduction and Breath of Fire for additional damage. We also replace Tiger Palm as our filler with Spinning Crane Kick.

  1. Maintain Rushing Jade Wind (if talented)
  2. Maintain Charred Passions (if talented)
  3. Maintain Bonedust Brew as much as possible
  4. Exploding Keg if Bonedust Brew is on enemies
  5. Breath of Fire before using Keg Smash or if buffed by Blackout Combo (if talented into Dragonfire Brew)
  6. Keg Smash if you are at 2 charges
  7. Blackout Kick
  8. Keg Smash
  9. Rising Sun Kick if 4 or less targets
  10. Spinning Crane Kick
  11. Chi Wave / Chi Burst

Weapons of Order Burst

Brewmaster has one of the longest and most complex burst rotations in the game. This burst can also change based on if you are running Dragonfire Brew or Charred Passions. Luckily, this burst rotation remains the same on both single target and AoE, so it comes down to just memorizing every step.

Defensive Priority List

While the damage that you deal is important, it is most important to keep yourself alive. A lot of dungeons and raid bosses have extremely hard hitting tank busters where you'll want to pop a big defensive accordingly. These defensives can also be used for when you are taking a lot of sustained damage, such as in a really large pull in mythic+.

  1. Fortifying Brew
  2. Defensive Trinket
  3. Diffuse Magic (vs magic damage)
  4. Dampen Harm (if talented)
  5. Celestial Brew
  6. Black Ox Brew
  7. Zen Meditation (more discussed in the advanced section of the guide)
